The Holy See has bought the domain vatican.xxx in order to avoid that you use to create websites with pornographic contents before American society that manages the addresses of the Internet, ICANN, put on sale with triple x domains on 6 December.
In the Internet world, the three X are used to indicate material for adults. For this reason, the Vatican has acquired the domain before possible undue farms in the first phase of sale, in which well-known trademark owners have the right to buy their own names, as reported by Vatican Insider of the newspaper La Stampa web portal.
ICANN sells addresses at a price ranging from the 99 to $300 (75-230 euros), while to buy an a household name to a private address, it might be more expensive. Previously, had already purchased domains with their big names companies and institutions such as Coca-Cola, Sony or the Museum of the Louvre in Paris.
The registration of domain .xxx, created to designate online adult content websites, began in September both for trademarks from the porn industry for non-business companies who wish to protect your brand by preventing someone linked this with the aforementioned domain.
Before the end of the year, ICM Registry, the promoter of the .xxx, expects more than 650,000 web pages under this designation are operational.

All of those .xxx domain sites are most likely going to be sites with adult content. I cant see anything else wanting that as their domain name.
