Six passengers of the Cruiser “Costa Concordia” Sue Carnival
Six passengers have submitted Friday a lawsuit in the U.S. against the Carnival Corporation and its subsidiary Costa Cruise Lines for at least 460 million dollars, with the argument that suffered anguish intensive when the Costa Concordia boat sank off the coast of Italy leaving so far 16 people dead and 23 missing.
Demand was filed in Miami – City where Carnival, the largest company in the World Cruises, headquartered – by passenger Geoffrey and Nancy Scimone, resident of Florida; Mario and Nancy Lofaro, of New York; and Ernesto Carusootti and Paola Falcovi, of Italy.
Demand alleging that Costa Cruise Lines and Carnival Corporation incurred in maritime negligence and negligent retention, among other arguments, when the ship with about 4,500 passengers collided against some rocks because he had apparently strayed from its course and too approached the coast.
Even when the investigation of the accident is ongoing, the cause of the “disaster apparently” occurred by this collision which resulted in a large hole in the side of the ship, the vessel later capsized and then sank, according to the text of the demand. After the crash, supposedly the alarm not activated, there was no communication with the ship’s captain or crew instructed passengers.
They ordered the passengers to return to their cabins

The crew announced that it was only an electrical problem and ordered passengers were in line to ascend to the boats lifeboat to return to their cabins, according to the court document.
It is believed that some members of the crew allegedly operated in an improper manner the lifeboats and one of them fell too quickly one of the boats with 70 people, which would have led to it crashed. Supposedly the crew member was of the place, did not return and others had to assist individuals so that they evacuate the boat, as reported in the demand.
