The renowned guitarist Carlos Santana behind ’70s hits such as “Black Magic Woman” and “Oye Como Va”, has proposed to his girlfriend, drummer Cindy Blackman, during a concert in Chicago.
The proposal took place on July 9, after Santana and Blackman, previously worked with Lenny Kravitz, played together the song ‘Corazon Espinado’, during the performance that was part of the Universal Tone Tour 2010 tour.
After she accepted, the just-engaged couple kissed, and the audience broke out into cheers.
“Being in love is a gift from the universe, and the spirit and vibrations that come with it are infinitely powerful. I look forward to expressing that incredible energy through my music, and in helping to tip the balance toward more love in the world with what Cindy and I share”, Carlos said.
Blackman is a jazz and rock drummer who has recorded and toured extensively with Lenny Kravitz, and played with a wide range of artists including Pharoah Sanders, Cassandra Wilson, and Bill Laswell.
This is the second marriage of the musician born in Jalisco (Mexico) after his divorce with Deborah Santana in 2007, after 34 years of marriage.
