Levi Johnston, the father of the grandson of the former Alaska’s governor, Sarah Palin, has publicly asked forgiveness for offenses that may have made to the Palin family, People magazine reports.
Johnston, 21, attracted considerable media attention during the election campaign of 2008 when it was revealed that Bristol, the eldest daughter of the then Republican vice presidential candidate, Sarah Palin, expecting his child.
After the race, Johnston and Bristol fought, although in the middle of last month they agreed in sharing the upbringing of his son, Tripp, who now is 18 months old.
“Last year, after Bristol and I broke up, I was unhappy and a little angry. Unfortunately, against my better judgment, I publicly said things about the Palins that were not completely true,” Johnston told PEOPLE magazine.
The young man did not clarify what those things were and to what extent they were true.
“I have already privately apologized to Todd and Sarah. Since my statements were public, I owe it to the Palins to publicly apologize.” Johnston said.
During the months after the break, Johnston said that Palin used to complain of her work as governor of the State of Alaska, and stated that in Palin home “there was much talk about the divorce.”
In August last year, Johnston said publicly that Palin had resigned from her post as governor due to longstanding marital problems, and because she had received lucrative offers to publish a book and presentations in the media.
Palin, meanwhile, described as “malicious” the statements mde by the young man and criticized Johnston because he had posed for the nude male magazine “Playgirl”, and for his statements about sex in the television show of Tyra Banks.
While the two young people apparently settled their differences, Bristol has made its debut in the ABC television show Family “The Secret Life of teens in America.”
